facial coverings
This fall we will be implementing BOTH physical distancing and the use of face masks to create as safe an environment as possible for our students and teachers. All students and teachers will be required to wear face masks while in the building, while in the studio and while dancing. Face masks must fit properly and cover the nose, mouth and chin. A properly fitting face mask will ensure that the dancer feels comfortable while dancing.
faq's
1. I thought that masks were not required during physical activity. Why are you requiring the dancers to wear masks while they are dancing? We are requiring masks to add an extra level of safety for both our dancers and our teachers.
2. Is it unhealthy for dancers to dance with masks? We have attended information sessions with doctors and health professionals who have strongly advised that both masks and physical distancing should be used together in a dance class in order to help prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 in the studio setting. The health professionals have also reassured us that dancing with a mask is not harmful to the dancer in any way.
3. What if my child does not like dancing with a mask? We have worked this summer with small groups of dancers at the studios and have had success with wearing masks. We find that at the first class, the dancers do find the mask slightly uncomfortable but they adapt and get used to wearing masks very quickly. By the second or third class, the dancers begin to get quite comfortable dancing in their masks.
4. What will my child do when they want to have a drink of water? Each studio has a designated area for water breaks and we will allow dancers the opportunity to have brief "breaks" from their masks during these water breaks.
5. What if my child forgets his/her mask? If your child forgets his/her mask, a disposable mask will be provided and your account will be charged a fee of $2.00.
