HALEY DIMECK
Dance artist Haley Dimeck graduated from The School of Toronto Dance Theatre in 2020, where she extensively studied Martha Graham technique, among other styles. Enhancing her training, she has participated in Kenny Pearl Emerging Artist Intensives, performing pieces by Robert Glumbek, Apolonia Velasquez, and Hanna Kiel. Other highlighted performances include works by Charles Moulton (Fall for Dance North), Peggy Baker (dance: made in canada/fait au canada Festival) and James O’Hara (TransFormation Danse). With a passion for creating, Haley presented her first full-length work, The Hidden Revealed, in 2019 for KW based company Unwrap Theatre. She created her first dance film, Resurface, as 2020 co-recipient of The Winchester Prize, and her second, Exhale, for Unwrap Theatre in 2021. Haley performed in the remount of Janet Johnson’s The Returned at The Guelph Dance Festival in 2022. As well, she hosted the online film festival event, Movement Offerings, in which she presented her dance film, Bending Light, created with the support of Pat The Dog Theatre Creation. In 2023, Haley performed in Nicole Decsey Dance Projects’ debut show, a second remount of The Returned at the Open Ears Festival, and Double Time with the Guelph Dance Festival. As a creator, Haley is inspired by movement patterns in nature. She is also a professional abstract painter and loves exploring the intersections of movement in dance and visual art. She finds that art enhances her creativity as a dance artist and vice versa. Haley believes in continuously evolving as an artist and staying curious. She feels strongly that being able to share her passion with young dancers is a gift.
