Rehearsals for symphony are going well so far and we are really excited about this performance opportunity. The performance list for those students who are double cast will be posted here soon. We will also be getting a group discount code for purchasing tickets. As soon as we have this info, we'll forward it to group members. We suggest that you hold on purchasing tickets so that you can benefit from this special discount for Carousel members.
We are looking forward to our Seuss School Performances on Monday, September 29th. We'll be visiting Sandhills, Northlake Woods and JW Gerth. Students who participated in the August Dance Company Plus week are involved in this performance. Dancers who are involved in this performance can CLICK HERE for more information and details regarding the performances.
We've had a few questions about which scenes each of the dances are in. Here's a detailed list so that you're able to mark the correct scene rehearsals times on your calendars.
Act 1 - movers, snow, accessories, children A & B, dusk, fruit, skunks Act 2 - aviators, penguins, lights, moonbeams Act 3 - snow people, candy canes, reindeer, elves, snow racers, icicles, polar bears A huge thanks to all of our parents for helping to make dance company a success! We rely on your volunteer hours and with the many exciting events that company is participating in this year, there will be many opportunities to volunteer :) Please note that we have made some changes to the volunteer hour requirements - they have been lowered slightly from what was originally posted in the company information booklet last Spring. The new requirements for volunteer hours are as follows:
Touring Company - 12 volunteer hours per year Dance Company A - 8 volunteer hours per year Dance Company B - 4 volunteer hours per year Dance for Everybody Company - 2 volunteer hours per year **additional volunteer hours will be required for dancers participating in daCi 2015 (Dance and the Child International Conference in Copenhagen) The number of hours required is per dancer, so families with two dancers participating will need to double their volunteer hours. Volunteer hours will be recorded and families who do not complete their volunteer hours will be billed at a rate of $25 per volunteer hour at the end of the dance year. A huge thanks to Saundra Schmidt, our volunteer coordinator, who does a fantastic job organizing the volunteers. You will receive correspondence from her soon with more details about how to get involved. The Carousel Dance Company has been accepted to perform at daCi in Copenhagen during July 2015. We are very excited about this international performance and conference opportunity!! There will be a meeting to discuss travel to daCi and student eligibility. If you are interested in daCi, please plan to attend the information session on Sunday, September 28th from 4:00-5:00pm in the Green Studio at Carousel. To participate in daCi students must be Company A members or touring members and must currently be in Grade 7 or above. Please note that there are now limits to the maximum group size that we are able to take to daCi. More details will be provided at the meeting.
